I am a Second Assistant Marine Engineer by profession on board tanker vessels and a full time Financial Educator of International Marketing Group. I was under Norwegian Shipowners Association Scholarship Program way back college and now an engine officer of OSM Maritime Services Inc.

I started sharing financial concepts and investment strategies to seafarers and OFWs for more than 5 years already. Kaiser Long term healthcare was my first investment before I dive into mutual fund and stock market investments. I did understand back then that once we stop working from the company, especially during our retirement years, there will be no more healthcare coverage from shipping companies and that is the time we need HMO plan the most.

I've heard a lot of horror stories that most OFWs especially seafarers end up downgrading their lifestyle or worst, become poor after they retire because of not having passive income or investments to sustain their remaining years. I did ask few retired seafarers who unfortunately retired broke, what went wrong?

Most seafarers are aware that maritime industry plays a big role on different countries' economy. But only few are quite aware that the seafarer itself needs to check his own economy by asking these 3 questions.

1. Is my job stable and permanent?

2. Is my family's economy stable?

3. If I lose my job now, how many days, weeks, months or years my family will survive?

My mission is to put "worry" in your heart and mind and to stick it with you for life. Don't get me wrong, it is a good worry, it is a worry that would help you kick out procrastination out of your lifestyle and replace it with discipline and commitment

My first job was to fix and maintain the machinery on board the vessel and now it is also my job to fix the wrong financial beliefs of a seafarer and OFWs and help maintain the kind of lifestyle they had even during their retirement years.
